Ayakashi - Bake Neko

Ayakashi is a very short anime series consisting of three ghost/horror stories. This disc label design is for the second story, Bake Neko. The spirit of a dead car haunts a noble household. A ghost-slayer attempts to exorcise the cat spirit. I used the kanji (Chinese) characters for "bake neko" and a sketch of the cat (both from the graphics of the opening theme) as the main design for this disc label. The six hieroglyphs you see repeated throughout the background were also taken from the graphics of the opening theme. Note that each hieroglyph has an EYE in it. So too the body-painting of the ghost-slayer in the anime. The alternating black/white bands is my attempt to match the very unusual fabric-like designs and textures throughout this anime. And, if you wish to be fanciful, black for YING and white for YANG, since this is a ghost story afterall. ^_^
